The Embassy of Colombia in Korea, along with the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota, are organizing the hybrid event "Colombia ― Korea: Commercial Strategies for the Americas," to be held on Wednesday from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m. (KST), at the Presidential Palace in Bogota.

The event aims to strengthen bilateral relations between Korea and Colombia and expose the trade, investment and nearshoring challenges and opportunities between these nations.

It also seeks to create a space for dialogue between the authorities and private-sector representatives of Colombia, the United States and Korea, and to identify opportunities for business, where Colombia can get involved in international production chains, becoming a business hub for the region and a gateway to the United States.

In 2022, Colombia and Korea will commemorate 60 years of diplomatic relations. According to a press release by the embassy, in Korean culture "this date has a special meaning as a rebirth of the cycle, therefore, we have the opportunity to renew and strengthen the relations of our countries from the commercial and investment sector."

The press release added that the two countries are also commemorating five years since the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement between Colombia and Korea.

Taking into account the anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2022, and with the aim of stimulating and fostering bilateral commercial relations, the event will present the results of a study on the state of trade and investment relations between Korea and Colombia, carried out by the Bogota Chamber of Commerce with support from LIG Nex1. It will introduce recommendations for the strengthening of bilateral relations for the short, medium and long term.
